Apr 12, 2018Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at The Medical University of South Carolina.Born on May 13, 1940, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late William E. Lovorn and the late Daisy Brooks Lovorn. Mrs. Powers was a member of First Baptist Church and a charter member of Screven Baptist Church. She loved serving the Lord through singing and was a former Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School Director. Mrs. Powers enjoyed dancing, especially shagging, shopping and living life to the fullest. She had a great love for her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and always needed to say "and just one more thing..."Survivors include four children, Jan P. Fort (Anthony) of Georgetown, Jack S. Powers Jr. (Kim) of Georgetown, Richard L. Powers (Shelley) of Georgetown and Leigh-Taylor P. Boan (Jason) of Pawleys Island; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Fort, Andie Powers, Jackson Powers, Ansley Powers, Zachary Powers, Will Powers, Presleigh Boan, Ellerby Boan and Buck Boan; a special "daughter", Susan Venters of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy Lovorn, Taylor Lovorn and John Joe Lovorn.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, in the First Baptist Church fellowship hall.
